The West Indies Cricket Board had finally called off the team’s tour of India followed by the dispute between the players and board. The West Indies board said this in a mail sent to Board of Control for Cricket in India that they are calling off the tour because of the disputes between them and their players. The news was confirmed while the 4th ODI between Team India and West Indies is going on at Dharmasala, which was won by Team India.
But the WICB said earlier before the Friday’s match that there are no intentions from them to call off the tour and as the team came to play the game, there were no doubts about the cancelling the tour. After several hours, following the teleconference, the WICB releaed a statement from the headquarters in St John’s, Antigua, that they are calling off the tour and thus blaming their own players for this result.
As this tour has been cancelled, speculation is rife that Sri Lanka will replace West Indies in the ongoing series. However, BCCI is planning to take legal action against the WICB for the loss created by their players and the board itself. India is considering the present series important as there is less time for the upcoming World Cup going to be held in Australia and New Zealand.
