The latest news about the social networking site Facebook is that it has ended its relationship with Microsoft’s search engine, Bing and have decided to develop its own search engine to search in the site Facebook. As per the report of Reuters, Facebook feels that since it is going to build its own search engine, it doesn’t need any such partnership with Bing. Hence Facebook drops bing for search.
A Facebook spokesperson added saying that the relationship with Microsoft will continue in the form of other interests, but they don’t need Bing Search anymore. A statement from the company says, ““We’re not currently showing web search results in Facebook Search because we’re focused on helping people find what’s been shared with them on Facebook.”
On the other hand, Microsoft also confirmed this. A spokesperson from Microsoft told Venturebeat, “Facebook recently changed its search experience to focus on helping people tap into information that’s been shared with them on Facebook versus a broader set of web results. We continue to partner with Facebook in many different areas.”
Facebook has been developing its own tools in the site since long time, but in case of searching, it took the help of Bing by keeping its competitor Google in mind, but as it dumped Bing now, it will be interesting to see how Facebook is going to manage the searches.
